Description

COLLEGE BOOTCAMP 2025 continues today with some STEM-specific workshops. If you're a student taking CHEM101 *or* BIOL141 this fall (or even in the future), today we will be covering how to succeed in these two courses.

At 12PM we are starting with "Periodic Gains: your Chemistry Warm-Up Session" which will cover CHEM101 success. This course is HUGE in the fall (think 800+ students) and it's easy to get lost in the sauce. It moves at what students usually describe as 'the speed of light,' so starting off on the right foot is SO important. You'll get some tips on how to hit the ground running (literally: there is usually work assigned before the first day of class) and keep the momentum going all semester.

At 12:30PM we are going to focus on BIOL141 success with "Survival of the Fittest: Get Biology-Fit for College." Even if you have some experience with biology coursework from high school, BIOL141 hits a little different. Instead of just taking in knowledge and spitting it right back out, BIOL141 is a course in which students are asked to APPLY that knowledge to problems you may have never seen before. We'll chat about how to make sure you're ready for this and how to study specifically for this course!

All sessions will be hosted in the same WebEx space - just click this link to join at any time you wish! Each session will last 20-25 minutes.

Check back every day this week for more sessions from 12-1PM. On Thursday, we'll be covering Academic Mindfulness and some STEM-specific study skills, and on Friday we'll be joined by Dr. Jeff Leips to talk about his on-campus lab and how you can get involved as a research assistant. Then, at 12:30, we'll talk internships and careers!
