Types of Advising

During the course of a student’s UMBC career, he or she will take part in one or more types of advising activities, as follows:

  • Orientation Advising
  • General Advising
  • Registration Advising
  • Group Advising
  • Supplemental Advising

Each type of advising activity is designed to help provide the student with the information they need to make decisions necessary for degree progress.
