Advising Assignments

If you are a newly admitted student who has yet to attend Orientation, you should start with the information for Admitted Students.

Every semester, the CNMS Advising Office publishes updated advising assignments (typically in October and March).

To determine your assigned advisor for the upcoming registration period, please follow the TWO steps below.

To decipher the above assignments you will want to refer to the following directory below which includes all of the contact information necessary to follow up with your assigned advisor — including email and office information. In general, emails are preferred.

Professional and faculty advisors are available for a mix of in-person and remote advising support. Similarly, every advisor may be using different communication platforms — including but not limited to — email, Google Voice, WebEx, and Google Hangouts Meet. To confirm how your assigned advisor will be conducting their appointments please be sure to email them directly.

**Students who have newly declared or changed a natural science major prior to the end of the most recent schedule adjustment period may not have an appropriately assigned advisor during this cycle. In the interim, they will be served by either the CNMS Advising Office via CNMSAdvising@umbc.edu (if under 30 earned credits) OR their respective department’s interim advisor (over 30 earned credits). For more information, please view the Interim Advising support page.**
