Learn how to get involved in campus research!

Location

University Center : 115

Date & Time

October 21, 2026, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Description

If you've been around for a while, you might know that our ABSOLUTE most popular events at CNMS Advising are the ones where we bring in professors to talk about research! This week, we'll be joined by Dr. Jeff Leips, who is a professor in the Biology department here at UMBC.

Dr. Leips will be talking about how he got involved in research as an undergraduate student, his own path to becoming a professor at UMBC, and what kinds of things he does in the lab on campus. He will talk about how you as a student can get in touch with faculty members (of any department!) to see if they can take you on as an undergraduate research assistant, how to approach the interview, and what kinds of things you'll be expected to do in an on-campus lab. (Plus...the perks!)

We'll have snacks, as always, and please feel free to bring your lunch! You will receive a raffle ticket for attending this event as well.
